Gender Equity Partners

The National Center for Women’s Equity in Apprenticeship and Employment at Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT) can provide useful strategies and practical applications to increase the number of women entering and being retained in registered apprenticeship through our online resources, technical assistance and training.

Through the umbrella of the National Center for Women’s Equity in Apprenticeship & Employment, subject matter experts from across the country who have been engaged in delivery of programs and policy to increase women’s participation in apprenticeship in the construction, advanced manufacturing, and transportation sectors for many years will be available to support industry stakeholders in increasing access, opportunity, retention and equity for women in nontraditional occupations and registered apprenticeship.

Our industry partners have seen significant gains in women’s participation and retention when working with tradeswomen organizations – nearly all demonstrating female indentureship rates that are nearly double the national average and significant increases in retention. These outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of quality technical assistance, training and industry linkages between workforce development organizations, registered apprenticeship programs and employers.
